Emergency Health Response in Akobo County

As the Chair of the Akobo County Health and Nutrition Cluster, CIDO convened an emergency meeting today following reports of suspected cholera cases that have tragically claimed three lives, with 18 individuals currently admitted.

The meeting, attended by key health stakeholders, focused on urgent response strategies to contain the outbreak and protect the community. The following action points were agreed upon:

✔ Strengthen case management at Akobo County Hospital with essential human and material resources.
✔ Mobilize support from partners to enhance hospital capacity.
✔ Conduct immediate line listing of all suspected patients.
✔ Assess health facilities along the Ethiopian border for preparedness.
✔ Visit Tiergol (Ethiopian border) to assess the outbreak's source and situation.
✔ Daily health cluster meetings for updates and coordinated action.
